Description

Snow Cottage is a stylish and economic option full of character with a spacious loft feeling. It is an ideal little getaway; a romantic single storey cottage sleeping a couple.

The Cottage

  • With beautiful large gardens to roam in, ample off road parking, lovely countryside walks straight from the cottage, cycle routes running past the cottage, and the prettiest of Suffolk famous Medieval Villages like Lavenham, Long Melford, Polsted and Nayland surrounding it - Snow Cottage really is a treat.

  • The unusual 'Soldier' brickwork dates back to the 1700's. The main room has a beautiful old wood floor and an impressively high vaulted wooden ceiling with pretty old soft redbrick walls and lime washed lime plaster.

  • This cottage has an interesting mix of period and modern 'classic' antique furniture and decor like the fabulous original Castiglionis 'Great Arc Lamp' of James Bond fame, interesting old brass imusical instuments, antique farmhouse table and chairs and a big cosy sofa to flop down into.

  • Snow Cottage is a stylish conversion of part of The Old Grove Farm where I am based, and where my other 5 cottages form the double quadrangle that makes up the Old Grove Farm. This is where it all started and where the template for all the cottages on my website was developed!

  • The cottage has benefits for those who need single storey accomodation because of moderate limited mobility. The shower is big and easy to get into and we can arrange for you to park in the inner courtyard so you can step right onto the footpath leading to Snow Cottage - please do call us to discuss this further and we can also supply you with a set of access dimensions and step heights.

  • And a note to guests who have looked at this cottage, or stayed in it before: Snow Cottage now has a lovely new Kingsized bed

  • We usually have some eggs from our own bantams and chickens available. There is a laundry room with a new washing machine and dryer and there are 12 bikes for the free use of the guests, including one with a child seat. The South Suffolk Cycle Route runs past the cottage.

  • Guests to Snow Cottage, Rose Cottage and Dons Barn walk through a small small sunny herb garden to reach their front doors. We have put a breakfast table there for these guests to use and the herbs are also there to be used.

  • Dog owners please note there is an acre of dog excercise Orchard and meadow at Snow Cottage - plus footpaths directly from the cottage into open countryside with a lovely dog friendly pub just a 15 minute walk away.

  • Along with 'The Old Forge'  this is our most affordable getaway where you can stay in style and enjoy Suffolks hidden treasures.

The Location

  • We are just outside a tiny hamlet and three fields away from The Edwardstone 'White Horse' our local CAMRA Pub, which also brews its own excellent Cider and Beer - putting them to good use on its live music nights.

  • Cycle routes run past the cottage, and the prettiest of Suffolk with famous Medieval Villages like Lavenham, Long Melford, Polsted and Nayland surrounding it.

  • There are bicycles freely available to guests and you can even hire one of my Canoes to explore the lovely river Stour where John Constable painted 'The Haywain'

Delightful and comfortable cottage as always - thank you. These are becoming our 'go to' places when in need of some R&R without having to travel widely - so it's great to know you're here.

After searching through quite frankly, a lot of 'dross' cottages in Suffolk, Grove Cottages seemed to set itself apart from everything else on offer. We booked at short notice for a weekend and managed to book delightful Snow Cottage. Coupled with great weather this place allowed us to relax, unwind and be amazed at the stunning Suffolk countryside. The cottage is well thought out and has everything you need. You will not be disappointed with Snow Cottage - really can't find any negatives, such a shame we only booked for the weekend!

We stayed in The Bakery last time and thought we'd miss the open fire, but it didn't make any difference. The welcome basket is a lovely touch, and we'll definitely be back.
